CVS 11/27 - CVS paid me to take home 15 items

I posted a few days ago a good deal at CVS. At the time, I was doubting we would get the $3 off Oral-B battery toothbrush coupon but we did making the deal alot better.

If you purchase $30 worth of selected items in the same week you earn a $10 gift card of your choice

which includes American Express that can be used anywhere

4 Oral B Toothbrushes at $4.99 ea (used FOUR $3 off coupons)

*the store was out of the "Cross Action" pictured

but they did have "Complete Action" which worked the same

I did ask them to check their supply in the back - that's where mine came from

8 Dawn at $0.99 ea (used FOUR $0.50 off coupons + FOUR $0.25 off coupons)

2 Glade Spray at $0.99 ea (used $2 off 2 Glade items)

To make my total come to just above $30 I added in a box of Nips for $0.99

I used 2 ECBs left over from Brown Thurs for $1.69 + $2.99

PLUS $5 off $25 coupon loaded to my card via an email that CVS sent me

After Tax $6.45

Rec'd $10 Gift Card

= NET PROFIT OF $3.55 + all 15 items

The cashier had to manual enter in some of my coupons so she combined the totals.

I started this blog for friends and people I meet when I'm shopping that want to know how to get the good deals and free or extremely cheap items they see me purchasing. I am single without kids so you will not see anything regarding toys or diapers on this post. I am not being paid by anyone to do this so you will get my honest opinions.

Couponing - Hard & Fast Rules

• One coupon per item.......so if it's $1 off 2 items then you can use an add'l coupon for the 2nd item.....the same thing applies if it's BOGO free. You can not use 2 BOGO free coupons and get both items free. As long as you have the same number of items as you do coupons you shouldn't have any problems. However, there have been 1 or 2 times that the cashier wouldn't let me use 2 coupons if 1 stated that it was to be used on 2 items.
• You can use 1 manufacturer coupon along with a store coupon - this is called stacking
• Some coupons state that only "4 like coupons" can be used in same transaction. For these items you must break up your transactions accordingly.
• Find a nice cashier. Some can be bitches and chose not to take your coupons. Some can be great -not even look at your coupons and key in even the ones that beep.
• Be honest
• Don't be afraid to ask to see the manager
• Don't feel bad for using coupons because the store is getting full reimbursement
• Places that double coupons......some places do it but I have NEVER found a coupon that doubled that I needed.......so you can extreme coupon without having a store (like Kroger) that doubles in your area
• PLAN AHEAD.......figure out your transactions before you leave home
• BE ORGANIZED
• Always check your receipt for errors

Target:

• price matching - must do your checkout at customer service and you must have a copy of the full ad that you are price matching with you (must have the dates on it)
• check the target website regularly for coupons you can stack

Walgreens:

• my least favorite store
• they don't display the sale prices in front of the items - you must match the ad with the items yourself
• if it's on sale the cashier won't tell you so do your homework before you head to the store
• there are Wags coupons in the weekly ad that need to be scanned for you to get credit - you can also use a manufacturer coupon with these
• they have a monthly booklet that comes out with coupons as well. In the ad, the coupons from this booklet are referred to as "in-store coupon".....you can also use a manufacturer coupon with these
• you can not use your RR on the same item that you earned the reward for

CVS:

• great place to shop.....they are rarely out of stock of the advertised items (unlike Walgreens)
• the cashiers are great and will help you figure out the deals and the best way to use your ECBs
• scan your card everytime you arrive at the store for coupons and when you leave to get more coupons
• get a "greenbagtag" and hang it on your own resuseable tote and every 4th time you use it you get $1 ECB
• they will except CVS ECBs and CVS store coupons up to 30 days after expiration

Walmart:

• will price match at the register and you don't need the ad to prove it (usually)

Anything you get that is extra and you don't need  - DONATE it to someone/someplace that can use it. I make small bags for the homeless and distribute when I see them. I also bring things to the Times Center and the women's shelter. I will gladly take anything you don't want to add to my donation if you don't have the time.

Today's Target Trip - All for less than $5

My total OOP was $4.51

Breakdown:

• 1 women's pajama shorts - sale price $2.74 - used $3 off any women's sleepwear printable Q from Target website
• 10 Soft Soaps - brought CVS ad with me and price matched to their $0.99 advertised price then used 10 Qs for $0.75/1 (Qs in Sun paper 2 wks ago)
• 6 CoverGirl eye shadows $2.98 each = $17.88.... used 6 Qs total: 2 x $2.50/2 + 2 x $1/1 + 2 x $1/1 = $8.88 after Qs but earned 2 $5 gift cards for buying 3 CoverGirl products so Target paid me $1.12 to take home the eye shadow
• 6 bags of Friskies cat treats - used 2 BOGOFree Target printable Qs + 2 BOGO "Crispies" Free + 2 $1 off Crispies Qs

Total I owed was $14.51

I used a $5 GC from last week & gave her $10 cash and she gave me 2 $5 Gift Cards back
